Food Bonding (Pinoy Cuisine - Dinner Recipes)

It is the day that we remember our Grandmother. We prepare food and some bonding moments with family and cousins. In this photo Joan(my sister) Josh, Christian, and Rechelle including me the blogger of this post. I've decided to make an article to this to share our bonding time.

Filipino Foods

If you're Filipino you are familiar with this food "Pancit / Pansit". This is a noodles term for Filipinos. It is introduced to Philippines by the Chinese, and had been adopted by Filipinos to local cuisine. We have also belief that it is a food that give long life. I think with the characteristic of a noodle, it is long.

This is a milk fish or we call it Bangus in Filipino. It is fry cooked. Perfect partner for "calamansi" and "soy sauce" that's yum yum.

This is "Dinakdakan" dish which originated on my hometown Ilocos Region, in the Philippines. This dish is compose of:

- boiled and grilled pig parts – in which ears, liver, and face

-other parts such as stomach and intestines can also be utilized.

Ingredients:

• 1 lb. pig ears
• 1 lb. pig face
• 6 ounces pig liver
• 1 teaspoon ginger powder
• 1 medium red onion, sliced
• 1 tablespoon minced ginger
• 4 tablespoons white or cane vinegar
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
• 3 pieces bay leaves (optional)
• 1 tablespoon whole peppercorn (optional)
• ¾ cup mayonnaise
• Salt and pepper to taste 

This is another Ilocano dish called "Igado", made from pork tenderloin and pig’s innards such as liver, kidney, heart.I think the name of this dish came from the Spanish word "Higado" which means liver. Since this dish deals with pig’s innards, it is important to make sure that the ingredients that you are using are clean.

Ingredients

• 2 lbs. pork tenderloin, sliced into 2 inch strips
• 1/2 lb pig’s liver
• 1/2 lb pig’s kidney
• 1 1/2 cups green pea
• 1 medium-sized carrot, cut into strips
• 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
• 1 medium-sized onion, diced
• 1 large red bell pepper, cut into strips
• 3 pieces dried bay leaves
• 6 tablespoons soy sauce
• 5 tablespoons vinegar
• 1 1/4 cup water
• 2 tablespoons cooking oil
• Salt and pepper to taste

 We can call this "suman" it is a rice cake originated also in the Philippines. Suman is also known as "budbod" in Visayan languages. It is cooked in coconut milk. It may also steamed in a leaves called buli or buri palm (Corypha)
